MC Sport Line Customization Program from Maserati

December 4th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Coupe, Maserati, Supercars

Wonderful…

Italian automaker, Maserati, lifted the covers on it’s customization program called the MC Sport Line yesterday at the Bologna Motor Show. So far, such a package is only available to those interested in purchasing a GranTurismo S and will be able to start ordering parts in early 2009 from the new line.

So let’s get down to it, what the line consists of. Well you’ll be able to get your hands on both front and rear carbon fiber spoilers, side skirts, carbon fiber mirror housings, carbon fiber door handles and gloss black 20-inch wheels which on the white GranTurismo S pictured above, look rather swish.

Not only will you lucky people be able to get the range of exterior options, but there are some interior options to choose from too such as door sills with “MC Sport Line” on them, new steering wheel rim and panels that cover the doors, dashboard and central tunnel all made out of carbon fiber.

That’s pretty much everything you can get your hands on, aside from a suspension setup that stiffens the springs and lowers the GranTurismo S by 10mm.

And the price for all this? Nobody knows. Not even the slightest hint from Maserati, but at a guess it’ll no doubt inflate the already lofty price tag of the GranTurismo S substantially.

Rumour Watch: Ferrari FX150?

September 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Ferrari, Rumours, Supercars

This week seems to be a hell of a week for leaked documents, today’s finding it’s way on to the internet from somewhere between Maranello and it’s intended destination.

The document, bearing the signature of Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo contians the vital statistics on the latest supercar offering from Ferrari.

The prototype, labelled as the “FX150″, is the successor to the Enzo and a result of Ferrari’s FXX program. From the document itself, the car will be mid-engined and sporting a twin-turbo V8 that squeezes out 794 hoursepower and 570lb-ft of torque, all connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with shift times down to a mere 50 milliseconds.

The car’s body is carbon fiber and keeps the weight down to 1300kg, which coupled together with the aid of almost 800bhp predicts that the FX150 will be capable of 0-60 in tiny 2.7 seconds.

Actual testing of the car is expected to begin next month and an expected release date of the car to be sometime in 2009, along with a price tag of 1.2 to 1.3 million euros.

If the Bugatti Veyron’s 1001bhp isn’t quite enough for you, then the recently leaked and what should be regarded as rumored specs for the Veyron GT (that’s right, I said GT) should get your blood pumping.

We’ve known for a while that we were due a faster Veyron at some point, but we were never told exactly when, but according to a recently leaked memo it looks like it might not be far off. Power has been lifted to a potential 1350bhp and torque to a whopping 1018lb-ft producing a top speed of 262mph and hitting 0-60 in a mere 2.4 seconds.

The leaked memo also claims the car will also be fitted with upgraded carbon-ceramic brakes, a new electronic stability program, and a new active aerodynamics package. Rumour has it the car will be unveiled at the Geneva motorshow in March 2009.

If you only have a base model Veyron, don’t worry as the GT package will be available as a retro-fit for all Veyron’s.
